WHAT ARE COOKIES
Cookies are small text strings which are sent by sites users visit, to their devices (usually their browser), where they are stored, and are then retransmitted to the same sites upon the next visit by the same user. Cookies can be installed by the website visited by users (first-party cookies) or by other sites (third-party cookies). This happens because there may be elements (images, maps, sounds, links to web pages of other domains, etc.) in the site visited by users which reside on servers other than that of the site visited. Cookies can be divided into two major categories according to their purpose: technical cookies and profiling cookies. Technical cookies are solely used to communicate on an electronic communication network; or to a strictly necessary extent by the provider of an information service, having been explicitly requested by subscribers or users to provide that service. They are not used for further purposes, and are normally installed directly from the site visited by users. In particular, these cookies allow normal navigation and use of the website, and navigation on the basis of a number of selected criteria in order to improve the service provided. Users’ prior consent is not required for the installation of these cookies. Analytical cookies are then assimilated to technical cookies, where they are used directly by the site manager to collect aggregate information on the number of users, and how they visit the site. These cookies allow the site’s operator to understand how users interact with the site’s content in order to optimize services. Profiling cookies are aimed at creating profiles related to users, and are used to send advertising messages which match users’ preferences, expressed during navigation. Users’ prior consent is required for the installation of this type of cookie. Depending on their duration, cookies are divided into persistent cookies, which are stored on users’ devices until their expiry, subject to removal by users; or session cookies, which disappear when the browser is closed and therefore have a limited duration.
TYPES OF COOKIES ON THE WEBSITE
The Website uses:
- Technical navigation (first and third party) cookies to enable normal Website navigation, the proper functioning thereof and the use of its basic functionality;
- Analytical (third party) cookies to collect information on the use of the site and to process statistical analyses. The Website uses a service that does not allow user identification – collected data are aggregated and processed anonymously;
- Profiling (first and third party) cookies to note expressed user preferences while browsing the Website, and thus to create profiles which allow the sending of messages which match their preferences and interests.
The above cookies’ characteristics are better described here:
Finally, this Website may contain links or references for access to other websites. The Company does not have the power to control other websites’ cookies and/or monitoring technologies – to which this policy does not apply.
MANAGEMENT OF COOKIE PREFERENCES AND NATURE OF DISCLOSURE
A banner appears which contains a summary notice of cookies present on the site upon first access to any page on the Website. By clicking “Allow All”, users agree to the installation of all cookies on the Website; by clicking “Allow Technical Cookies”, users continue navigation in the absence of cookies (other than the technical cookies for which express consent is not necessary); by clicking “Cookie Settings”, users can express and save their preferences in relation to each type of cookie present on the site. These choices are stored and recorded through the use of a special “technical cookie”, which allows users to access the Website directly – in case of subsequent visits – without having to express their consent to the use of these cookies again. In any case, users may always modify and manage their cookie preferences, blocking their installation or revoking previously given consent by clicking the link in the previous paragraph. In so doing, users will be able to verify each type of cookie present on the site’s status of activity or inactivity, and manage their consent. Users can discover the appropriate information and how to disable third-party cookies through the same link, at the same time as managing consent and cookie preferences.
